Covid-19 ELISA Assays
Biorbyt & Daresbury Proteins' novel IgG and IgM ELISA assays utilizing ultra-stable, human-expressed trimeric Spike proteins.
Biorbyt and Daresbury Proteins are immensely excited to announce the launch of novel Covid-19 IgG and IgM ELISA diagnostic assays, providing highly sensitive and completely reliable quantitative measurements of specific antibodies generated as a result of active Covid-19 infections and global vaccination programmes.
The Power of Trimeric Spike Proteins
We exclusively manufacture complex trimeric Spike proteins—the most valuable and structurally accurate Covid-19 capture antigen—ensuring the absolute highest clinical sensitivity of the resulting diagnostic test.
- They are biologically produced entirely in human cell culture and therefore are an exact molecular match of the current vaccines, providing the best scientific tool to assess the true clinical efficacy of those vaccines.
- Uniquely expressed large MW proteins possessing extensive, native post-translational modifications via codon-optimised sequences deployed in proprietary expression plasmids.
- Super stable trimeric Spikes function as highly abundant capture antigens, ensuring the most faithful, low-background detection of circulating specific anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in recovered or vaccinated patients.
1. Assay Advantages vs Limitations
Our Assay Advantages
- Requires only incredibly small volumes of blood which can be safely collected at home via finger-prick.
- Provides an extremely sensitive and highly reliable quantitative antibody-measuring method.
- Requires absolute minimum consumables and laboratory instruments to successfully run.
- Accurately distinguishes between specific serological responses to various mutants and variants of concern; thereby possessing immense potential prognostic value.
Limitations of Alternative Assays
- Most current commercial diagnostic kits unfortunately utilize either recombinant Nucleocapsid or much smaller, incomplete fragments of the Spike protein as their primary capture components.
- Nucleocapsid assays cannot accurately distinguish between SARS-CoV-2 and other circulating coronaviruses (like severe flu or the common cold), presenting massive specificity issues. Moreover, they strictly cannot be used to measure SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-specific antibodies.
- Simple Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) based tests inherently cause major sensitivity problems since they physically can only detect a very small portion of the specific circulating antibodies.
- Alternative tests are highly prone to diagnostic failure when measuring the complex serological response to other mutant forms of the Spike protein due to the well-documented neutralisation escape effect.
2. Quantitative IgG & IgM ELISA Formats
The advanced COVID-19 ELISA IgG and IgM diagnostic tests are conveniently available in two specialized formats to suit your laboratory workflow:
Format 1: Pre-Coated & Ready
A standard 96-well plate provided completely pre-coated with our proprietary trimeric Spike protein at a highly optimized concentration of 2 μg/ml in each well. Includes absolutely all required buffers and reagents to immediately run the full ELISA protocol. A thoroughly tested, step-by-step protocol is provided. Note: Expiration date is strictly 7 days from the receipt of the package.
Format 2: Flexible Coating
All highly purified reagents are provided directly to the end user. Active plate coating is carried out securely within the end user's own laboratory environment, safely allowing for the long-term storage of the highly stable COVID-19 Spike protein before assay assembly.
ELISA plate: raw Optical Density (OD) data demonstrating clear separation for positive and negative samples.
Individual immune responses to different Variants of Concern resulting directly from vaccinations and active Covid-19 infection. Assayed utilizing dry blood samples.
3. Isolated Recombinant Proteins: Variants of Concern
We actively supply highly purified, sequence-accurate soluble trimeric Spike proteins matching the most critical circulating global variants to enable precise serological testing and rigorous vaccine efficacy studies.
