DNase I

This product is a recombinant, RNase-free DNase I enzyme expressed in Escherichia coli. DNase I hydrolyzes both single-stranded and double-stranded DNA, yielding oligonucleotide products with a 5'--> 3'-hydroxyl group. Enzyme activity is dependent on calcium ions and activated by divalent cations such as magnesium or manganese. In the presence of Mg2+, DNase I cleaves double-stranded DNA randomly at any site; in the presence of Mn2+, it cleaves both DNA strands at the same site, generating blunt ends or 1- to 2-nucleotide sticky overhangs.
