GoldView

GoldView is a novel nucleic acid stain designed as a safer alternative to ethidium bromide (EtBr). It offers sensitivity comparable to EtBr and uses the exact same protocols. Under UV illumination, double-stranded DNA fluoresces green, whereas single-stranded DNA emits red fluorescence. Subcutaneous toxicity tests in mice have shown no evidence of carcinogenicity for GoldView, unlike ethidium bromide, which is a potent mutagen and carcinogen—making GoldView an ideal choice to replace EtBr. Capable of detecting DNA or RNA fragments down to 50 ng, GoldView exhibits multiple excitation peaks, with the two strongest occurring at 230 nm and 490 nm. Users can adjust their UV transilluminator excitation wavelength to optimize emission intensity.
